Louisiana Flood Devastates Families

My heart's been heavy this week after receiving the news that my cousins house was devastated by the flooding in Lousiana. We were deeply saddened to learn that their 8 month old house is in the process of being gutted due to water damage and mold. The house isn't a total loss, but it has suffered extensive damage, which will cost thousands to fix. Unfortunately, they were one of many who were reassured they built in a "no flood zone" and didn't need flood insurance. FEMA has denied them assistance and insurance has denied any claims. With the help of nearby friends and family, they're doing their best to salvage all that they can. We've started a GoFundMe Campaign to raise anything we can to help them rebuild and get back on their feet. If anyone could help donate the smallest amount to help our family restore their home, we'd be forever thankful and appreciative of your kindness during this difficult time.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all those who have been affected by this natural disaster.

Help us reunite this beautiful family! The kids are currently staying with their grandparents while Mom and Dad work hard to salvage as much of their house as possible.

So thankful for GoFundMe for supporting our family during this difficult time!!!

  3. Oh no!!! I am so sorry to hear this. I hate that they were declared a no flood zone when in fact they are in one. Obviously. Insurance can be such a pain even if you do have coverage. I will keep them in my thoughts and hope that they are able to salvage a lot quickly! I am sure it is hard not to just do the work but to be away from the kiddos. And I am with Kate, it is sad that the media is hardly covering anything on this. If it were in an area like New Orleans they would be blasting it 24/7.
